Have you ever thought about winter gardening?  Here is an example of a geodesic greenhouse in Hudson, Quebec - which is similar in latitude to Sudbury.  These plants show how heirloom vegetables are bred for cold-resistant traits that allows them to bounce back after a frost.

Sudbury Food Connections Network, Seeds of Diversity, and EarthCare Sudbury are helping to sponsor Sudbury's first Seedy Sunday on Sunday, February  21st, at Market Square.   Bring your seeds and we will help you organize them at the seed  packaging workshop from 10:00 - 11:00.  Opening ceremonies will start at  11:00 am .
 The seed exchange will start at 11:30 and end at 1:00.   
At 1:00 pm Dr. Stephen Monet will speak on the Sudbury Biodiversity Action Plan, then Dr. David Pearson will present on the how our northern climate is changing.  Next, learn about northern bee keeping from Doug Tompsett and pick up a few short season gardening tips from Ron Lewis.  The Horticultural Society will explain the basics of starting seeds, and Master Gardeners will also have a booth to answer your gardening questions. 
Northern Flavours and Eat Local Sudbury will be there to offer local food products and local wares.  
Environmental activities will be organized for kids!

If you are interested in volunteering, there are 
two opportunities for you:
1) Children's activities, organize one or help volunteer.
2) Seed packaging workshop at 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
